Jan Mielke was born 1979 in Nuremberg, Germany. After finishing school he started to assist different photographers and in 2001 he decided to move to Berlin. The following years he gains experience as a photoassistant in Berlin, Paris, Milan, Cape Town and Miami.
Since 2005 he works as a freelance fashion-photographer in Berlin. His commercial work is focused on lookbooks and catalogs. In his editorial works he experiments with retro looks, analogue techniques and polaroids.
